veg appam or paniyaram is prepared with rice dal batter and some chopped veggies. appam or paniyaram is always been the most popular and favourite snack for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Cabbage (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Carrot (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Capsicum (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Chaat Masala
  • ¼ tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 3 cups Idli Dosa Batter
  • 1 tsp Rai / Small Mustard Seeds
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • Water (as per required)

Instructions

  • take rice dal batter in a bowl. (click here for rice dal batter recipe)
  • add finely chopped cabbage, onion, tomato, capsicum, carrot, chaat masala, red chilli powder, and salt into the batter. mix everything really well. if the batter appears too thick then add some water to it.
  • cover and keep the batter aside for 10 to rest. use it later to make appams.
  • after that batter is now ready. now heat 1 tsp oil in a small wok or pan and add mustard seeds to it. when the seeds splutter then switch off the flame.
  • pour this tempering to the batter and mix well.
  • preheat an appam maker and pour little oil in its each mold.
  • fill each mold with the batter and covered it.
  • let them simmer for 3 minutes on low-medium flame.
  • when the paniyaram get golden brown from beneath, flip the side and continue cooking until golden brown from this side as well.
  • it can take 2 minutes. cook the paniyarams until they get golden brown on both the sides.
  • take out the roasted appe in a plate and similarly prepare the rest as well.
  • now you hot and delicious veg appam or paniyaram is ready to be served. served veg rice dal batter appam with chutney & sambar.
