Masala Samosa Box Recipe | Whole Wheat Samosa Recipe | Baked Samosa Recipe | Easy Atta Samosa Recipe

Samosa Masala Box Recipe or Atta Samosa Recipe is a potato masala stuffed deep-fried, crunchy, flaky, and delicious snack and very popular in India, the Middle East, and Asian countries. This crispy and flaky Aloo Samosa is one of the most popular street food in North Indian cuisine.

Ingredients

For Samosa Dough:

  • Wheat flour (atta) - 2 cup
  • Semolina - ½ cup
  • Carom Seeds/ Ajwain - ½ tsp
  • Oil - 5 tbsp
  • LukeWarm Water - as per required
  • All-purpose flour (Maida) - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp

For making Aloo Filling:

  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Asafoetida (hing) - A Pinch
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
  • Boiled and Mashed Potatoes - 4
  • Red Chilli Powder - ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala - ½ tsp
  • Amchur Powder (Mango Powder) - ½ tsp
  • Salt - 1 Tsp (or as required)
  • Finely chopped coriander - 2 tbsp

For Frying Samosa:

  • Oil - for deep fry

Instructions

Instructions for Potato Filling for Samosa | Samosa Filling Recipe:

  • Firstly, mash the potatoes roughly with a potato masher or with a back of a ladle.
  • Heat a kadai / wok, add 2 tbsp Oil to the Kadai and heat.
  • When oil becomes hot, add a pinch of Asafoetida (Hing) and cumin seeds (jeera) and let them splutter for few seconds.Further, add chopped onions and saute for about 2 minutes on low-medium heat until the onions are translucent. Keep stirring often.
  • Now add boiled and mashed potatoes, red chilli powder, coriander powder, amchur powder, salt and garam masala.
  • Mix well and cook for about 10-15 minutes on low flame.
  • Stir in between at regular intervals.
  • Now switch off the gas and add finely chopped coriander and Mix well.
  • Finally, Aloo Filling for the atta samosa is ready for whole wheat Samosas.

Instructions for making atta Samosa

  • To make samosa dough, take a mixing bowl.
  • Further Add Wheat flour, Semolina, Salt, Carom Seeds (Ajwain), Oil.
  • Mix the ingredients together With your fingers until they make a breadcrumb-like texture that holds its shape when you press a portion of the flour mixture in your palm.
  • Further, add 7-8 tbsp of water in parts (or as per requirement) and knead and prepare the semi-soft dough.
  • You can add 1-2 tbsp extra water if needed if the dough looks floury or dry.
  • Grease the dough with little oil. Samosa Dough has to be firm, stiff, and not sticky. Cover the dough and rest for 30 minutes.
  • Mix 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or maida with 3 tbsp water and mix well. Keep aside.
  • After 30 minutes, knead the dough slightly again.
  • Now divide the dough into 6-7 equal parts and make balls.
  • Samosa making: Start working on a piece of the dough ball, keep the remaining dough balls covered with a moist cloth else the dough balls will dry out.
  • Roll one dough ball into a circle using a rolling pin slightly thicker than chapati or take a bowl and cut into circle shapes.
  • Now place 1 tbsp aloo filling or as per the size of samosa, in the center.
  • Fold from one side and apply maida water and fold on another side.
  • Flip and apply maida water and fold on both sides as per pictures.
  • Now prepare all atta samosas as per the above steps and keep them covered at all times with a cloth else the masala samosa box will dry out.

Instructions for Frying Samosa:

  • Firstly, heat the oil in a Kadai/wok and deep-fry 4 to 5 samosas at a time on a low flame.
  • stir occasionally in between, frying the samosas on low flame for at least 15 minutes.
  • once the atta samosa turns crisp and golden, drain off all the samosa over kitchen paper.
  • Finally, Masala samosa Box or Whole Wheat Samosa is ready to be seved. Enjoy aloo samosa with spicey Green Chutney and sweet Tamarind Chutney.

Instructions for Baked Samosa Recipe in Oven

  • Firstly, preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius.
  • Now grease a baking tray with oil and place the whole wheat samosa to the tray and apply little oil on the samosas with a brush.
  • Now bake at 180 degrees Celcius for about 35-40 minutes.
  • Finally, Enjoy healthy and low-fat Baked Samosas or baked atta samosa with chutneys and a hot cup of tea!!!!!

Instructions for Aloo Samosa Recipe in Air Fryer

  • Generously coat each samosa with oil and arrange them in your air fryer’s basket.
  • Be sure to leave a little gap between the samosas to cook them properly from all sides.
  • Air fry at 180 degrees Celcius for 20 minutes.
  • Now flip the samosa and air fry them at 180 degrees Celcius for another 15 minutes or until the samosas are golden brown.
  • Finally, Enjoy healthy and low-fat Samosas or atta samosa with chutneys and a hot cup of Tea!!!!!
