When you are fasting for 9 days of Navratri and you are tired of eating the same kuttu pakoras, then make this delicious Kuttu Cheela Recipe aka Kuttu Pancakes Recipe, and serve it with fresh coriander chutney and tamarind chutney.

You can also serve this delicious and crispy Vrat ka Chilla with aloo curry for fast, arbi sabji, and curd. This is a simple and quick Kuttu Atta Chilla Recipe, that is made with just a few ingredients, easily available in every household.

This is a very healthy and tasty option for your fast/vrat like Navratri, Shivratri, Janmashtami, and Ekadashi types of upvas. It is a tasty & quick savory pancake recipe, or a dosa recipe made of kuttu atta aka buckwheat flour, along with grated potatoes and some spices.

If you want, you can also add finely chopped green chilis and finely chopped fresh coriander as per your taste. They are also called ‘kuttu chilla’ or ‘falahari cheela‘ or ‘kuttu dosa’ or ‘vrat ka cheela‘ or ‘kuttu pancakes’ in India and are perfect for Navratri fasting.

Kuttu Atta is also called buckwheat flour. It is a commonly used ingredient during Hindu Fast or vrat, or upvas. Kuttu ka Atta/Flour is extracted from a fruit seed of the Fagopyrum esculentum plant.

Ingredients
  

Vrat ka Chilla | Kuttu Cheela Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Kuttu Atta / Buckwheat Flour
  • 1 medium Boiled Potato
  • ½ tsp Sendha Namak / Rock Salt
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • ½ tsp Fresh Ginger Paste
  • ½ cup Oil
  • 1 cup Water (as needed)

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, peel and grate the boiled potato.
  • Further, take a big bowl and add grated potato, kuttu flour, black pepper powder, sendha namak, and fresh ginger paste.
  • Additionally, add water as required gradually and mix well and make a medium thick smooth batter.
  • Make sure the kuttu batter is lump-free.
  • Kuttu Batter for Cheela should be the same as another cheela batter, adjust the water to get the right consistency.
  • After that, heat a nonstick pan/tawa and grease with little oil.
  • Further, wipe off the extra oil with tissue paper and make the pan smooth.
  • Once the tava is hot enough then pour the kuttu batter and spread it to make the round shape of cheela or Indian Pancake.
  • Let the cheela gets cook on one side or till gets golden brown then drizzle some oil on top and then flip it using a spatula.
  • Further, cook for another few minutes on medium flame or till gets golden brown.
  • Once both sides are cooked properly, remove them to the plate.
  • Finally, hot and crispy kuttu cheela or savory pancake is ready to serve.
  • Serve this kuttu chilla or vrat ka chilla with coriander chutney, sweet tamarind chutney, and curd.

Notes

  • Firstly, you can also use singhara atta instead of kuttu atta.
  • Secondly, you can also add vegetables as per choice that is allowed to eat on Fasting days.
