How to make Mumbai style pav bhaji | Bombay Bhaji Pav Recipe with step-by-step photos:

  • Firstly, heat 2 tbsp of oil or butter in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds and saute it for a few seconds.
  • After that add chopped potatoes, tomatoes, beetroot, pumpkin, carrot, and green peas.
  • Additionally, add salt, and 1 tsp of pav bhaji masala.
  • Now add 3 cups of water and mix all the ingredients well.
  • Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • Open the lid and cool completely the cooked vegetables.
  • Mash the vegetables smoothly with the help of a masher and make sure there are no lumps. Keep them aside.
  • Heat a large pan or skillet on medium heat and melt 2 tsp of ghee and 2 tsp of oil. If you want butter then add butter instead of oil and ghee.
  • Now, add asafoetida/Hing and Rai/Mustard Seeds and saute for a few seconds.
  • Add the finely chopped garlic, ginger, and green chili, and cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

  • Additionally, add finely chopped onions and saute until they turn translucent.
  • Now, add the finely chopped capsicum (bell peppers) and cook for a few minutes until they become tender.
